Getting Started with GWN TV
Getting your GWN TV service running should only take a few minutes. This guide walks you through the basic setup, from installing OpenTV to testing your first channel.
What You’ll Need
Before you begin, make sure you have:
- Your GWN TV login details
- A supported Android TV, Google TV, Fire TV, Android phone or tablet, or another compatible device
- A stable internet connection
- The OpenTV app installed on your device
Your login details will normally include:
- Server address
- Username
- Password
Keep your login details private. They provide access to your service.
Step 1: Install OpenTV
Install the OpenTV app on the device you want to use for GWN TV.
Once installation is complete, open the app.
If you need help installing OpenTV on your specific device, see our device setup guides.
Step 2: Add Your GWN TV Account
In OpenTV, choose the option to add a new IPTV service or playlist.
Select Xtream Codes or Xtream Codes API when asked for the login type.
Enter the information exactly as it appears in the account details we provided:
Server:
Enter the server address provided with your account.
Username:
Enter your GWN TV username.
Password:
Enter your GWN TV password.
You may also be asked to enter a name for the account. You can simply use:
GWN TV
Then select Add, Login, or Connect, depending on the version of OpenTV you are using.
Step 3: Let OpenTV Load Your Content
The first login may take a little longer while OpenTV downloads your:
- Live TV channels
- Channel groups
- Electronic program guide
- Movies and series, if included with your service
Allow the app to finish loading before assuming something is wrong.
Step 4: Test a Live Channel
Open Live TV and choose a channel.
Try a few different channels from different categories.
You should normally see a channel begin playing within a few seconds.
If one channel does not work, try another before contacting support. Occasionally an individual channel may be temporarily unavailable even though the rest of the service is working normally.
Step 5: Check the Program Guide
Open the TV guide or EPG section.
You should see current and upcoming program information for supported channels.
Some channels may not have guide information available at all times. This does not necessarily mean the channel itself is unavailable.
Step 6: Add Your Favourite Channels
OpenTV allows you to mark frequently watched channels as favourites.
This can make navigation much easier, especially when your service includes a large number of channels.
Look for the favourite or star option while browsing channels.
If You Cannot Log In
If OpenTV will not accept your account details, check the following:
- Make sure the server address was entered exactly as provided.
- Make sure your username is correct.
- Make sure your password is correct.
- Check for extra spaces before or after the server address, username, or password.
- Confirm that your internet connection is working by opening another app or website.
- Close OpenTV completely, wait 10 seconds, and reopen it.
If You Can Log In but Channels Will Not Play
Try these steps in order:
-
Try another channel.
Test at least two or three channels from different categories. This helps determine whether the problem affects one channel or the entire service. -
Close and reopen OpenTV.
Close the app completely. Wait 10 seconds, then reopen it and test again. -
Restart your streaming device.
If you are unplugging the device from power, leave it unplugged for at least 30 seconds before reconnecting it. Wait until the device has fully restarted before reopening OpenTV. -
Restart your modem or router.
Unplug the power from the modem/router and leave it unplugged for at least 60 seconds. Then plug it back in. Wait until the internet connection is fully restored before testing GWN TV again. This may take several minutes. -
Check your available connections.
If another device is already using all of the connections included with your account, an additional stream may not start until one of the other streams is closed.
Important: After restarting your modem or router, do not test GWN TV until your internet connection is fully back online.
Before Contacting Support
If the problem continues, please have the following information ready:
- The device you are using
- The app you are using
- What you were trying to do
- Any error message you saw
- Whether the problem affects one channel or all channels
- Whether the service works on another device
- Whether you already restarted the streaming device
- Whether you already power-cycled the modem/router for at least 60 seconds
